Descriptions;

SBM, a growing international financial institution in Africa, provides a wide range of corporate and commercial banking solutions to its clients. Kenya will operate as a gateway to Africa for SBM. SBM Bank (Kenya) Limited shall focus its activities on products and services for corporates and SMEs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work in close collaboration with the Risk Management functions of the respective banking and non-banking entities to prepare consolidated
  • reporting packs to various committees
  • Assist the Board and Senior Management with devising and implementing Group Risk Management Framework, Policies, risk appetite statement and related metrics
  • Ensure effective governance is adhered to
  • Actively assist in the efficient and regular reporting to Senior Management, the Board and other audiences
  • Keep up to date with global macro events and assess the impact of these events on the various entities in the Group with relevant reporting as appropriate
  • Assist in analysing regular risk reports from the various entities and recommend appropriate pre-emptive measures at the Group level or at specific entities as may be required
  • Assist in promoting an effective and pragmatic risk culture within the Group
  • Provide support, education and training to staff to build risk awareness within the Group
  • Ensure high level of service standards including level of ethics and integrity in line with SBM values
  • Perform other cognate duties as and when required

Qualifications, Experience & Skills:

  • University degree in Finance, Accounting, IT, Risk Management and/or any other relevant field
  • At least 3 – 5 years relevant work experience within the Banking and/or Financial Services Sector
  • Comprehensive understanding of the linkage among the various risk types and how they operate in a holistic enterprise wide risk framework
  • Knowledge of development and trends in the banking and financial services industry
  • Ability to interact with all functions and level of staff, including Senior Management and Board Members
  • Excellent communication, analytical, interpersonal and reporting skills
  • Ability to solve problems independently, act proactively and deliver under pressure
  • Proactive approach to work, in terms of suggesting changes and improvements to processes and system
